It’s been a few months since I last wrote a personal blog post, so thought it was time for a little life update! Plus I’ve got a bit of exciting news to share….
I’ve had an incredible summer in Sydney, with some pretty great weather. Even now in autumn, there have been plenty of gorgeous sunny days. Enrico and I love living so close to the beach and have spent lots of time swimming and surfing.
We’ve expanded our BBQ repertoire to include pizza (yep, you can even cook pizza on a BBQ in ‘Straya), enjoyed boat parties, celebrated Mardis Gras and bought ourselves a new toy: a drone!
I’ve been lucky enough to travel quite a bit since Christmas, which we spent in Cambodia and Vietnam and have also been to New Zealand to catch up with one of my best friends, to the Whitsundays and to Perth and Margaret River.
One of the things that I had thought I would miss when moving to Australia, was the ability to jump on a plane and pop over to mainland Europe for a weekend. But in reality, there are so many amazing places in Australia for weekend breaks, I’ve been spoilt for choice and still have plenty on my to-do list. Plus, it’s only a 3-hour flight to New Zealand, making it a great destination for a short break from Sydney.
All in all, Sydney life is great. So you’re probably thinking this is a really boring blog post and what’s the news?
Well, the news is…
We’re leaving!
We have decided to take an extended trip and see a bit more of the world.
So, we have packed up our bags (and our apartment) and are heading off on a little adventure. It’s not the end for Sydney, we will be back after the trip, but we have the opportunity to travel, so we thought why not!?
I intended to write this article about a month ago, but as it is, I’m writing it from the aeroplane. Turns out planning a trip and packing up a house is a fairly time-consuming task!
So where are we going?
Our first stop is Abu Dhabi! I’ve been to Abu Dhabi airport on stopovers from London to Sydney, but I’ve never actually spent any time there. I’m really excited to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. From the pictures I’ve seen, it looks incredible! We are also heading out into the desert and up to the observation deck at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers.
Then it’s back to Europe. One of the worst things about living in Australia (for us anyway), is being so far from friends and family, and we have no less than 3 weddings this summer. So we are going to spend a few months in Italy and the UK to catch up with everyone and celebrate our friends getting hitched.
After that, we are making the most of family time and taking some family holidays before we head further afield. Destination TBC.
We would love you to follow us on our journey (so keep following on Instagram and Facebook!) and we also have a youtube channel now. Exciting times!
