Ostuni, like other towns in Puglia is a hilly, ancient, cobbled street tourist haven. Our visit in late September had fewer crowds and good weather. Eating in the tourist areas was less enjoyable than finding an excellent restaurant packed with local people and serving delicious specialties. It's wonderful name in English is "The Usual Place" (Il Solito Posto).
It is a good base for exploring the many interesting local sites, the lively nightlife and for day travels to nearby towns and villages.

Beautiful white city 15 mins from the sea.
Beautiful white city 15 mins from the sea. The old town is steep and has lots of steps but totally worth the climb.Car hire recommended for trips to other nearby towns such as Locorotondo, Alberobello and seaside towns of Monopoli and Polignano A Mare which although can be reached by train and bus due to timetables can take more than double the time to reach. We will definitely return to this stunning part of Italy.

Italy at its best.
Italy at its best. It may not be beachside, but you can see the sea from the terraces and from east-facing bars and restaurants. You KNOW you’re in Italy when you approach the main square. If you’re self-catering, there’s a number of decent mini-supermarkets within 10 to 15 minutes’ walk of the square. Lots of bijoux shops right off the square. A lovely green park full of Italian gents chatting about their day, just up the street. Ostuni is a great introduction to Puglia. A ride in a tuc-tuc style tourist buggie through the tiny backstreets (especially at night) is an unforgettable experience.

Loved Ostuni but at times too crowded with tourists.
Loved Ostuni but at times too crowded with tourists. Driving around the small streets and parking a problem if you have a larger car.
Went to a few beaches near Ostuni but very dirty with rubbish.

Ostuni is known as "The White City" because in years gone by it was thought that the lime in the white-wash would kill off some nasty pestilence that was doing the rounds. It didn't but they carried on anyway.
Only two museums (that I could find), and no art galleries (that I could find) but the little alleys reveal nice little restaurants which are cheaper than those in the main square. No shortage of ABCs though!
Do try the "fave" - cooked and skinned broad beans that they smash into a puree and serve usually with greens. If you come across deep-fried broad beans snap them up. They are like little crunchy crisps and we bought some from a street vendor in Alberobello (only to be visited at dawn, before the hordes get there).

The white city is a very good base to explore Puglia region.
The white city is a very good base to explore Puglia region. It's full of charm, beautifull architecture and magazine covers alleys.
For the beach, Spiaggia of Torre Lapillo (Ionian Sea) is amazing with cristal clear waters. Lido Bacino Grande is a good option to spend the day.
For visiting don't miss Locorotondo.
Great location at the central square of Ostuni. The property was kept incredibly clean and had everything you need for a short or long stay. We slept here for 3 nights and it was the perfect central hub for everything. A lot of care an attention to guests from the host with everything well thought out. We loved opening up the balcony doors to the central square and enjoying a glass of wine before heading out. This was a stop on our tour of Italy, and I have to say one of the most charming.Incredible value for money I would love to come back.
This villa was perfect for our family trip, we had plenty of space inside & outside for 10 people, very well equipped and the pool was great for the teenagers! Pietro, the owner, was very attentive and he even organised a mini bus, at our request and at a good rate, for our group to visit different towns around Puglia. We decided not to hire cars. The villa is about 2k outside Ostuni but we used a local taxi to bring us in & out for dinner etc! I would highly recommend this villa for a beautiful stay in Puglia!
Wonderful boutique accommodations — almost felt like staying in a museum! — within walking distance of the heart of the old town. The host, Francesco, was delightful and very responsive, offering us wine and snacks on arrival and giving us a tour of the home (be sure to see the suite!). We were two couples traveling by bikes and he stored our bikes in the adjacent garage — a great set-up. The other highlight was breakfast — huge array of sweet and savory local products. The stay exceeded our expectations.
Raphael and Isabella are such warm and friendly hosts. The grounds are amazing with a pool, spa, hammocks and fruit trees of all kinds (figs trees, pomegranate, lemons, olives, etc.) a gem in an already beautiful town. A lovely daily breakfast is provided (including fresh fruits, pastries, boiled eggs, juices, teas, coffee). Like the grounds, the bedrooms and bath are really nice, well decorated and remarkably clean. Thank you both for making the start of our vacation around Puglia, truly unforgettable.
This was our favorite place we stayed during our 17 day trip to Italy. There is not one detail that has not been thought through from the beautiful decor in the rooms and dining room to the amazing grounds to the food including their home grown products like first press olive oil and jams to the honor bar where you can make a cocktail to the music to the movies in their charming family “cinema”. They arranged a bike tour for us that included visiting an ancient olive oil press and olive oil tasting.
Great location very close to the old town and the property itself was beautiful withe very tasteful interior and exterior design
The rooms were large with very comfortable beds great subtle aircon which you need on Southern Italy in the summer months. The best feature was the magnificent outdoor are with a lovely pool which plenty of space to sit and relax. As it only has 6 rooms you are never crowded out. We loved Casa d Autore and Ostuni itself it's a must visit destination in Puglia.
The location of the apartment was at centro storico right before the cathedral. It was on the rooftop and had a beautiful terrace and the view was spectacular. Ostuni is a very special place and the building is what I expected which is full of charm. A perfect place to position yourself if you'd like to explore Puglia. The paid parking at Via Giosue Pinto was inexpensive for overnight parking. It was also very easy to check-in and staff was very responsive via WhatsApp for queries.
Feels like home.
We were warmly welcome by Lucia, and ou stay was exquisite.
Everyone was available to help us and acomodate in the best possible way our stay.
We are 5 minutes walk from the center of Ostuni.
We chose to spent 10 days in this location and travel on one day trips in the puglia, it was us (couple + a kid) the perfect combination to discover the region between trips and swimming pool.
We have done everything in train, the network is good and cheap.
Magical place, perfect for those that seek some peace in the beautiful Puglia. The amenities are luxurious and clean. I used the yoga shala in the morning as well for a sunrise practice. The natural swimming pool is unique and I particularly enjoyed the sound of the waterfall in the background. The entire staff was excellent as well. The location was perfect as it allowed us to visit the surrounding towns and beaches. Totally recommend.
location surrounded by nature, clean in every corner, very comfortable room, fantastic breakfast with sweet and savory products all home-made. the added value of the Amostuni estate is the swimming pool, the gym among the olive trees but above all the winery with the best wines of Puglia. Francesco and all the staff are unique and professional people. thank you I will be back soon on holiday again with my family and friends.
Great location to visit all of Puglia - House was spotless - lovely outdoor seating area with our house - bbq area, even had a washing machine, oven, cooker and plenty of utensils - gave us all the basics to get us up and running - great supermarket near Ostuni called Familia, great selection - loved visiting Ostuni every evening for dinner. Barbara was a great host and gave us lots of fruit and eggs in the mornings.
This place is beautiful!!! Andrea has created a serene and peaceful spot just 5 minutes drive from Ostuni. The room decor is beautiful and chic, with classical white washed Puglian style. Bed very comfortable. A highlight was the breakfast which was home made and delicious. The pool side area is also stunning. Could not recommend enough. Thank you Andrea for a wonderful stay!
The property has a very nice and big garden with pine trees and offers a very spacious terrace which was excellent for relaxing. It is close to Ostuni and Alberobella and also to nice beaches. The owner was also very kind in sharing places where to go and shared some delicious home grown fruits & vegetables.
Masserie Maresca has been our favourite stay during our 10 day honeymoon in Puglia. Anna Maria was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The accommodation was beautiful, quiet and the perfect location for exploring Ostuni and nearby beaches.
Thank you so much, we will be back!
Wonderful location, setting and friendly helpful staff made for a fantastic stay. Overall a very relaxed, small/boutique experience with beautiful rooms/design and overall vibe. The food was very good and the breakfast incredible. Well located for Ostuni and exploring the region.
Our host welcomed us very warmly and was always happy to help and provide us with information about Ostuni. The location is great, central and quiet. We especially enjoyed the rooftop and can definitely recommend this accommodation in Puglia.
The property is vast yet cozy. Old yet modern. Situated in Puglia amongst acres of olive trees as well as fruit trees and grape vines. The pool area is calming and comfortable with a gorgeous saltwater pool and a snack bar.
Wonderful staff and breakfast was delicious. Fresh cakes, coffee and fruits. Highly recommend this place to have good access to Ostuni, Cisternino, Alberobello and some wonderfull beaches like Torre Guaceto or Rosa Marina.
Wonderful base for exploring the Ostuni / Puglia region on private tour. Very tranquil and quiet. Breakfast very generous - and encouraged to take away biscuits, water, fruit etc. for snacks during the day.
This is a lovely hotel in a central location. The room was spacious, quiet and clean. The staff were very helpful about recommended restaurants snd transfers to other parts of Puglia.
