The Dolomites are well known for having incredible family hotels, with kids (and parents) exceptionally well catered for. It’s such a great destination for families, and we have stayed in a variety of hotels and apartments in the Dolomites that really elevate your holiday. In fact, some of these Dolomites hotels are a destination in themselves. Whether you’re there for a winter ski holiday or a summer hiking trip, or you don’t even plan to leave the hotel, here are some of the best places to stay in the Dolomites with kids.

The list below includes accommodation I’ve personally stayed in, along with recommendations and details from friends and my own personal research. I’ve included budget, mid-range, and luxury accommodation in the Dolomites; however, in general, the prices tend to lean towards the higher end in this part of Italy. It can also vary quite a bit by season.

How to Choose Family Accommodation in the Dolomites
The first thing to consider is what you want out of the trip. If you want to visit specific destinations such as Alpe di Siusi or Lago di Braies, then you want to be a short drive from these locations to avoid lots of travelling, as the Dolomites cover a big area. However, if you want the hotel to be the destination (which a lot of these hotels really are), then it matters less where it is.
Other key considerations are:
- Meals – many of these hotels offer all-inclusive or full board, which is great for families as it means no decision making and everything is on site, which is especially useful for little ones with an early bedtime. It also means less spending money is required for the trip. However, if you prefer to try different restaurants or want the ability to make your own meals, then you can often get cheaper accommodation by booking self-catering apartments.
- Kids Club – Do you want or need childcare? If you’re planning lots of days out hiking and sightseeing, then a kids club may not be something you need. But if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or you want a few hours in the spa without kids or a romantic meal, then it’s a good idea to look for a hotel that has childcare or babysitting services.
- Extra Services – Do you need a hotel that can provide cots/prams and other kid items so you can travel light
- Is a swimming pool essential? If not, you can save some money by staying in a hotel or apartment with more basic facilities.

Apartments Rainer
Located in the beautiful town of Ortisei, Val Gardena, Apartments Rainer offers spacious, modern, alpine-style apartments ideal for families seeking independence and the facilities of home. A short walk from the town centre, lifts and shops, the apartments are a great budget-friendly accommodation in the Dolomites.
- Childcare: There is no childcare or kids’ club provided, so it’s more suited to families who want to spend the full holiday together, or plan to be out and about exploring.

Family Resort Rainer
Family Resort Rainer is a welcoming, family-focused hotel in Sesto, offering a blend of mountain charm and modern wellness. Suites are well designed for families, with separate rooms for children. Hotel Huber
An all-in family hotel offering childcare, dedicated baby facilities, toddler swimming, baby gourmet options, and secure play zones.
